Infinite Stratos and Why it is Infinitely Vapid

There are well-loved Winter 2011 anime series, there are tolerable ones, the facepalm-worthy ones, and there are those that are not worth their .torrent data.

I wonder if Infinite Stratos needs another shit-tier category altogether.

Even the .jpgs I reserved for uploading today seem to disgust my Lolita, and she may be rigging something on the back end to purposely move the files closer to the recycle bin!

In the beginning when I saw Infinite Stratos (IS) at Chartfag’s, I had high hopes for this Mecha-Mobile-Suit series and even saw the first five episodes together with my friends. It seemed like the generic plot: one guy has special abilities to pilot a mobile suit, an ability that was only commonly present in girls.

I loved both Evangelion and Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventure enough to give it a chance. Clearly it was a mistake. By the second episode that I felt a churn in my stomach (I’ve learned over the years of watching anime that the ‘churning’ does not spell anything good.)

For all intents and purposes, IS is a harem anime. But what right does Fukihiko Shimo and the rest of the anime development team have to turn this into a trainwreck?! The plot was little to none, their supposed comic relief was nothing but queasy, and any ‘romantic overtures’ that were only starting to build up was something like a shtick. But it was in episode 3 that IS lost all credibility:

“How to lose respect in the Harem’s MC in 3 Episodes or less”. It’s a disgrace when a harem anime gets a superficially insensitive and un-graceful, MC whom you lose all respect for too early in the series. Gratefully, I can channel mfw to you via Houki:

Infinite Stratos has very little things to recommend it. Its only highlight is the fast-paced mobile suit action that lasts for barely 5-8 minutes. The character development is way worse. Girls get introduced one after the other and somehow there is very little meaningful interaction with them.

They are each pretty in their own right, especially Laura and her sexy eyepatch, Cecilia whose coloring reminds me of Colette in Tales of Legendia, Lingyin the baby Jam Kuradoberi. My favorite girl is still Houki, the one in the middle. I don’t know what to say about the strawberry blond-haired Charles/Charlotte though, she kind of made me irritated at around Episode 6. I mean, who would think of introducing themselves by rubbing their unmentionables in a guy’s back? Really? SRSLY? :|

And also the fact that she is almost asking for it. :| WHAT A DERP.

I AM NOT WATCHING A HAREM ANIME AGAIN. Makes me sick to my stomach. IS has completely destroyed any interest whatsoever.

And my Lolita is right (as always) Infinite Stratos deserves to be stored in the Trash bin.
